Finally spent about 10 bucks more and went for the "Chef Williams Signature Series" injector. Stainless steel and it hold 2 ounces of marinade. This is one of the slickest barbecue toys I own, gets the flavor deep into whatever I cook and looks like it will outlast me.

(More customer reviews)These are a must-have item if you use a smoker and need to pick up, or move food without burning your hands. I've also found them to be very helpful when shredding pork (for pulled pork). Makes the process much easier and comfortable.
Also works well when not using the BBQ for things such pulling meat off of bones when making soup, or shredding boiled chicken. You do need to exercise some care -- the gloves can be slippery when dealing with hot food, especially if it is greasy.
The gloves are made of a thick, heat resistant material that works very well for handling food. They are NOT, however, meant for high temperature uses, such as taking a metal pan out of a hot oven. Think of them as potholders for food items - something to keep your hands from burning when handling hot food.
The fingers are a bit stiff, but allow for decent mobility. I had no problems holding a knife or using a fork to pull pork while wearing them. They extend well up your forearms to keep grease splatters at bay (they are about 13.5 inches from fingertip to bottom edge). Easy to wash. I've only used them a few times so far, so I can't attest to how long they will last, but they seem pretty sturdy, and should last for some time provided they are cared for.
I take a mens size XL glove, and these fit fine (a bit snug, but very workable).
Very good price - much less expensive than other hot food handling gloves I've seen. Highly recommend.

(More customer reviews)Works fine. Nothing fancy here. Comes with Eastman's Wing Sauce which a lot of people seem to love more than Hooter's sauce. Pot fit nicely into my turkey fryer stand so I can make a mess outside instead of inside. I found more of Eastman's wing sauce at my local Gander Mountain outdoors store. Maybe Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops carry the sauce too. FYI, found a nearly identical, off brand fryer at Menard's for $15 (w/o any sauce--big deal) after I paid 35 plus tax at Dick's Sporting Goods.

What a big difference in the quality of stainless vs aluminum. The pot is obviously heavier but I would definitely not consider it heavy. We have used it only two times but the success was great. The heat was evenly distributed and the turkeys and chickens cooked perfectly. I highly recommend stainless especially with all the negative things coming out regrading cooking with aluminum.

(More customer reviews)This item is not solid cast iron . whatever metal they used to cover it looks like it but easily scrathes off revealing the aluminum. Not safe at all since you will injest metal pieces with your food.
It even warns you that it does not need to be treated like cast Iron and that it is aluminum on a piece of paper they stick inside the pot.
Mine arrived heavily scratched and appeared used.
The french fry machine that came with it will shoot your potatoes across the kitchen.
The onion mum spice mix contains MSGIt is too heavy to ship back, it got chucked in the trash the first day I got it as it cannot even be used for a flower pot.
I would not feed a pet water from this thing.

Char Broil Big Easy Infrared Smoker, Roaster, and Grill Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased THE BIG EASY® SMOKER, ROASTER & GRILL late last year. I have used this item quite a bit since and it works well and doesn't consume a lot of propane like my full size grill does. I have however had some significant issues with this item that CharBroil did not resolve to my satisfaction. On purchasing this grill I read the instructions fully and assembled the grill. I seasoned the grill with cooking oil as recommended to protect the grill as described. I used the grill several times as an infa-red roaster for some ribs, roasts and such. It worked very well. I then put the grill grate on it and used it as a grill most of the summer. After every time that I cooked with it I allowed time afterwards with the flame on to burn all remaining food or grease off the grill. I recently removed the grill grate and found everything that was underneath to be extremely rusty, to the point of almost falling apart. I was very dismayed in my finding and today called CharBroil to discuss the matter with their customer service. I initially spoke with a customer service representative who was very nice and responsive but when he looked into the warranty coverage found that my grill was only covered for 90 days. What a disappointment! A $200.00 grill one season old that was falling apart due to rust not covered by warranty! I asked to speak with a supervisor and was put through to a supervisor that offered to replace my severely rusted basket, half racks, smoker basket, and inner drum, at a discounted rate of roughly $35. I was told that the parts would have normally been a bit over $100. I placed the order but did convey to the supervisor my disappointment at having to pay anything at all. I also asked that she relay my recommendation to CharBroil that they invest in some higher quality stainless for their products that would not rust as badly. It makes sense to me to produce something like a grill out of superior quality materials that don't have to be meticulously washed and dried after every use. I don't believe that it is not reasonable to ask the consumer to do so after every use to make this product last as it should. I wanted to make sure that anybody else considering this grill be made aware of these issues in advance. I hope that CharBroil also take this advise to better their product.

King Kooker 60-Quart Aluminum Boiling Pot Review

(More customer reviews)A 60-quart pot is the perfect size for steaming a full, packed bushel of blue crabs on an outdoor propane burner. The KK-60 is a heavy-duty aluminum version that is well-made, has a nice-fitting lid, and heavy-duty riveted handles. The included boiling basket is also ideal for large seafood boils and frying very large turkeys. At last inquiry, King Kooker does not make a steamer plate for this pot, so for steaming crabs, you'll need to raise the included basket a few inches with either stainless steel carriage bolts or some other kind of spacer (there's plenty of room under the lid).
Aluminum pots used for steaming crabs will pit eventually due to the salt, so to prolong its life, you'll want to wash it immediately after each use. In the long run, a stainless version like the Bayou Classic 1060, 60-Qt. Stainless Fryer/Steamer with Vented Lid is the way to go, and I've seen the Bayou Classic sold with and without a basket. This King Kooker does do a fine job at a reasonable price; and it's of course lighter in weight.
I have seen two versions of the KK-60 sold locally that were both 60 quarts but were slightly different dimensions. The photo shown above is actually a much smaller (15qt?) pot.

Also my family perferred the fried turkey, it was moist and delicious. I even tried mixing the the roast with the fried and everyone picked around the roasted turkey(a Butter Ball that was cooked to perfection). You can actually see the difference in texture of the meat. The price is also right. This fryer also has other uses, we worked it all summer with corn and lobster. Great product.

The pot was a sturdy aluminum, not like the flimsy pots of some other brands. I'm going to get a bunch of crawfish this weekend and use the basket to boil them.

Since water boils at 212 degrees F (except at higher elevations) you can determine the thermometer's accuracy by placing it in water that's just beginning to boil. Mine reads about 195 in boiling water, therefore I know to add approximately 15 degrees to get an accurate reading of what I'm cooking. I also use it to monitor the temperature on my grill.

I like to brine my turkeys and it fits inside the 5 gallon water coolers used by construction workers that are easily found at Lowe's or Home Depot. When I get ready to cook, I pull the bird out of the cooler, pour off the brine and then put the bird back in so it can drain and come up to room temperature without any worries of animals or bugs getting to the raw food. The coolers are easy to clean and sanitize for the next time.
Yes, I would like it to be a little more sturdy because it does bend. I fry 16 or more 11lb turkeys a year and I haven't had any major issues. Matter of fact I am ordering 3 more from Bayou Classics website, just to make the job of frying 4 turkeys at a time easier.

(More customer reviews)I needed a fish fryer. This looked like a fish fryer, but was labeled a Turkey Fryer. I bought it anyway. This is definitely a small item fryer or a fish fryer. NOT a turkey fryer. It even says right on the box: NOT FOR TURKEYS. So, how is it as a fryer? It does the trick. Nothing special. The instructions are very confusing and difficult to follow. They are for two different fryers. The metal ring at the bottom that came with my fryer must be for the other model. The holes to screw it in would not align. Since I needed this item for a party, I used it anyway and just put the ring inside for support of the legs. If I had bought this locally, I would have returned it for those reasons.

I used it on my stove's 16,000 BTU burner, but that has not been a problem for my other cookware. The fried chicken it produced was good, but I'm sure this pot can't stand up to heavy use. Buy it only for occasional use. If you plan to fry alot, buy a basket for your dutch oven or buy a commercial aluminum fry bottom/basket.
