(More customer reviews)For $50 you can't beat this as a basic fryer, especially if purchasing for a smaller household. The capacity is enough to cook for 2 or 3 at a time, the unit is well-designed and solidly built, and even though it lacks a temperature control it heats the oil to 375 degrees (I checked with a cooking thermometer) which is what most recipes seem to recommend. The filter system works well to contain odors and the drainage tube makes cleaning a breeze. The only issue I've had is that it's hard to avoid condensation on the viewing window, but that's no big deal. Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)My kitchen gremlins somehow swallowed my old deep frying/candy thermometer which I had owned for years. You don't realize how valuable a tool is until you try to complete a task without it.
If you use a Wok or pan to deep fry food a good thermometer is essential, and my old Taylor one was well worn.
The new model 804 is lighter, longer and more accurate than the one I lost. It has a clear,readable numeric display on the face, and fits large woks as well as large or small pots. All you need to do is adjust the clip to the size of your pot or wok.
I would not recommend using this item in smaller pots, as it sticks up too high, and you need to be very careful.

(More customer reviews)The same thing happened to me using this product as happened to the previous reviewer. For all the quality products Lodge makes, this one is garbage. I learned that the hard way when the handle came unlocked as I emptied hot french fries out of it. The fries came within centimeters of scalding my hand. And I couldn't believe the catch was not wide enough to rest on the side of the very dutch oven for which it was designed! I'm going to get a basket whose handle does not fold into the basket for easy storage. I'll take the loss of a little more storage space over a trip to the burn unit any day. If I can find the receipt this one is going back. Problem is I think I threw it away. Aaarrgghh!

(More customer reviews)If you know anything about non stick electric fry pans, you know they usually have two things in common, 1. they only heat where the heating coil is in the bottom, resulting in uneven heating, then that area wears out, creating a permanent sticky ring in the bottom of the fryer that peels, bubbles, and burns everything. 2. they have notoriously LOW sides making their usefulness very limited. This West Bend 72215 Electric nonstick skillet addresses those very issues. First of all, you'll get even heating and the non stick is very durable. Second, the pan is OBLONG and has EXTRA DEEP sides! The shape and size makes it very much more versatile than any other electric fry pan you may have tried. And at under fifty dollars, it is a steal!
