It seasons very easily and holds the seasoning very well. We were pleased to find this item online. It turns out wonderful oven cooked food items. As well, its design is very unique and interesting and it is very large. The price was good too. This pot is very heavy duty and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a high quality roasting pot/dutch oven.

This cast iron fish fryer and casserole pot measures 16. 5 inches long x 8. 75 inch wide x 3. 75 inches deep on the inside. A fun raised crawfish motif is displayed on the lid. Althought there is a flat griddle on the underside of the lid, the crawfish does not allow it to lay flat on a stovetop. This item should be cured before use. Nonstick when seasoned. (More customer reviews)The same thing happened to me using this product as happened to the previous reviewer. For all the quality products Lodge makes, this one is garbage. I learned that the hard way when the handle came unlocked as I emptied hot french fries out of it. The fries came within centimeters of scalding my hand. And I couldn't believe the catch was not wide enough to rest on the side of the very dutch oven for which it was designed! I'm going to get a basket whose handle does not fold into the basket for easy storage. I'll take the loss of a little more storage space over a trip to the burn unit any day. If I can find the receipt this one is going back. Problem is I think I threw it away. Aaarrgghh!

Built to last. I give a light coat of Veg Oil after every use. Do not cover pot while not in use. Keep pot and cover vented. Moisture will stay inside a covered pot and start to rust the metal.
