Deep fryer was well made except for 2 items. Cord to plug into pot would not stay in and fell out at the least movement of the pot. Plugged cord in as instructions said and no way would it stay in, cord is very defective. Also did not like the filter system. Old T-Fal fryers had the best system and why they changed it, have no idea. Old filter system was best. Very disappointed in this fry pot that was supposed to replace my old T-Fal fryer which was totally worn out. Purchased this pot off 1 review and apparently they did not have this problem as no mention of cord being a problem. Returned this pot at my expense to Cooks.com. Hopefully they will refund the return postage as I had to pay postage for it being sent to me so I will be out the postage at least once I hope,.

(More customer reviews)I got mine at Bass Pro Shops and was excited. Fried one turkey successfully and brought it to my job for their dinner. But when I came back an hour later after I let the unit cool down, I attempted to cook my family's turkey and it didn't work. It took 2 hours to get it working pressing the reset button on the back of the heating unit at least 100 times!. When I finally did get it working, I went back to check on it 20 minutes later and it turned off. I had to give the heating unit a pretty firm tap and then it turned on! Completely inconsistent!
Cleaning the unit was a breeze, even the heating unit which collected most of the grease residue and can't be submerged in water. Everything else I placed in the dishwasher.
The oil drained well and very clean for use again.
It really is a great idea but they need to solve the issue with the heating unit not working. It shouldn't be so sensitive to movement which is what I gathered was the problem.
And worse? Their customer support number was closed on Thanksgiving. Don't brand this Butterball, if you're not going to be available on Turkey day.

(More customer reviews)This is one sturdy pan--be ready for a bit of heavy lifting if you're going from stove to oven, because it takes two hands. I knew I wanted a cast iron skillet for frying and other things, and knew I wanted it to be a heavyweight (because that's how good cast iron skillets should be), and decided on this one because I liked the looks and the pouring lip, and Cuisinart tends to be reliable. It has a sorta high price tag, but from what my grandmother told me, a good cast-iron skillet will last forever, so I dove in. And so far, it's been more than worth it. Not just for chicken frying, though the straight tall sides make it great for frying (I've tried a couple things, chicken, hushpuppies, and zucchini and all have come out nice an hot and crisp), but also for making things from browning a ton of onions, to simmering a sauce, to making a big curry for about 10 people. It's just a workhorse of a pan, and the ability to drop it in the oven (using both hands, don't forget) to finish off a dish is very helpful. Oh, and it does look great (I have red) on the stove, too, which is a bonus. Overall, I'd suggest this pan to anyone, whether they want to use it to fry chicken or not. It's an investment that you'll be using for many years.

(More customer reviews)At first, I loved this little deep fryer. It is perfect for one person, easy to clean, and easy to use. But I went to use it yesterday and it would not turn on. I checked the power, which was working fine. I only used it the day before and it worked just fine. I've only had this fryer for a month and a half. Of course that's just long enough for Amazon's 30 day return window to expire and leave me without any recourse. There is no warranty on the fryer either, which I did not pay attention to when I made this purchase.
Bottom line, stay away from E-Ware deep fryers. They don't stand behind their products.

(More customer reviews)I own three pieces of cast iron cookware, and this item is one of them... and among my favorite cooking implements, period. For dishes requiring steady, even heat and for cooks who require durable cookware with easy clean-up, cast iron CANNOT be beat!
This fryer is going to last forever. Its care is easy: I scrub it with hot water only, and dry it with an old rag and apply a thin layer of vegetable oil while the iron is still hot... a year and a half later, it's still rust-free and delivering the reliable service I have come to expect and admire. No scratches interfere with its performance, as is the case with my allegedly-long-lasting Wearever nonstick cookware set (what a waste of money THAT was!). In fact, in this particular chicken fryer, I've produced everything from french fries to spaghetti sauce to eggs and bacon to french toast! It's a dependable griddle, skillet, grill, and pot, and it goes right from the stovetop and into the oven for maximum versatility.
The best thing about the chicken fryer is its somewhat smaller circumference than the skillet or the Dutch oven. It takes up a bit less stovetop space and provides greater depth, making it ideal for small batches of soups, stews, or deep-fried goodies.
I am an avid home-chef, and I can say without exception that my cast-iron cookware is the best kitchen investment I've ever made.

All of the items were of restaurant quality, and none were greasy. I did not experience flavor transfer when re-using oil. The fryer comes apart with ease, and it cleans up nicely in the dishwasher. This is a family size deep fryer, and it requires a large amount of oil. Once the deep fryer cools, you can strain the oil and store it in a clean plastic container for up to three months. So, after you purchase this fryer, make sure to buy a big container of cooking oil (the largest one in the grocery store) and a nice sturdy plastic container for storing your used oil. The directions tell you not to mix different oils, as they have a different smoking point. So, pick canola, vegetable, or peanut oil and stick to one type of oil for your deep fryer. My kitchen did not smell of grease after I used this product for frying.

And it worked acceptably for about six months. At first the main problem was the two-piece handle kept slipping apart, which got me burnt more than once. And then one day it just stopped working altogether. I believe may have been due to a problem with the odd power connector on the unit, which was troublesome from day one. You'll find multiple reports of the same issues on the very similar Euro-Pro F1042 Compact 2-Cup Stainless-Steel Deep Fryer and the Deni 9301 Mini 840-Watt 1-1/4-Quart Stainless-Steel Deep Fryer, both of which share several parts (including the power connector) with this model.
