(More customer reviews)This is our second Oster 12 inch Glass Lid Electric Skillet 3001. The first one still works beautifully and we love it so much that we are ordering another. We use it for practically everything you can imagine cooking in a skillet. We poach salmon, fry bacon, make potroast etc. etc. etc. We love the tip feature it is great for basting eggs, the glass lid so you can keep an eye on things, the even cooking throughout the pan, the max temperature gives you searing capability, you can wipe the pan clean between cooking individual items (for example, cook your bacon, remove, cook your potatotes, remove and wipe the pan with a paper towel then cook your eggs), you can also cook burritoes to a golden brown by (thawing them and cooking them 15 mins on each side on high simmer) and both the simmer and warm are exactly what you get, all of this in one pan and for our family we will have 2 of these fabulous skillets. (More customer reviews)I like all the features of this deep fryer, except for one major detail. It doesn't get hot enough! Granted, it only falls short by 10 degrees (365¡ instead of it's 375¡ setting), but when it comes time to fry Chinese rice sticks, for example, they just don't get done. French fries come okay though, so I guess how it'll suit you depends on what you'll be using it for.
Couple the thermostat problem with the fact that it's a bit on the small size, and you may be even less satisfied. If, for example, you load it to capacity with frozen fries, expect the temperature to drop dramatically. Plus, even when it's loaded to capacity, it barely cooks enough food for my family of four (two of which are two young girls who eat like fleas.)
I suppose I'd recommend it for serving one or two people at a time, and only if it's used for less peculiar types of foods than rice sticks.

(More customer reviews)Purchased this fryer at Target and have used it for making chicken wings, fried spinach, French fries, fried okra and pre-prepared frozen calamari and clam strips. All of the items were of restaurant quality, and none were greasy. I did not experience flavor transfer when re-using oil. The fryer comes apart with ease, and it cleans up nicely in the dishwasher. This is a family size deep fryer, and it requires a large amount of oil. Once the deep fryer cools, you can strain the oil and store it in a clean plastic container for up to three months. So, after you purchase this fryer, make sure to buy a big container of cooking oil (the largest one in the grocery store) and a nice sturdy plastic container for storing your used oil. The directions tell you not to mix different oils, as they have a different smoking point. So, pick canola, vegetable, or peanut oil and stick to one type of oil for your deep fryer. My kitchen did not smell of grease after I used this product for frying.
