She has KitchenAid cookware & needed a large red fry pan. They are not easy to find. I would rather have been able to get one with a handle that was not metal, but Kitchenaid is a good product.

We have used their enameled cookware in the past and found it very difficult to keep the enamel clean. This one may not be as pretty but it sure should be a year from now. In addition, the pan comes with a 10 year warranty for the cook surface. It also has an extra thick flat bottom which is great for our flat range top.

We use it for practically everything you can imagine cooking in a skillet. We poach salmon, fry bacon, make potroast etc. etc. etc. We love the tip feature it is great for basting eggs, the glass lid so you can keep an eye on things, the even cooking throughout the pan, the max temperature gives you searing capability, you can wipe the pan clean between cooking individual items (for example, cook your bacon, remove, cook your potatotes, remove and wipe the pan with a paper towel then cook your eggs), you can also cook burritoes to a golden brown by (thawing them and cooking them 15 mins on each side on high simmer) and both the simmer and warm are exactly what you get, all of this in one pan and for our family we will have 2 of these fabulous skillets. (More customer reviews)After getting the 10-inch version of this pan, I found a great deal on the 8-inch pan and picked it up for smaller jobs in the kitchen. This was a great decision.
8 inches *is* small for a lot of cooking and this shouldn't be your primary fry pan but it is great for doing smaller jobs on the side or for cooking up things for one or two people. I use this guy for eggs, meat and more. The pan heats really evenly and feels great in my hand. The handle does a great job of dispersing heat and staying cool, too. And, though it doesn't come with a lid, the medium lid from the All Clad pots fit it well.
When things do stick, I don't worry about attacking it and scratching off the surface. I can use a scraper, sponge, or scouring pad without any problems. Metal can be used but it is more likely to scratch. And it is safe in the dishwasher although I recommend handwashing as much as possible.
Some cooking tips I learned with this type of pan: Use a lower heat, not because you have to (like with non-stick), but because it heats so evenly, you often don't need that higher temperature. Also when you throw something in, whether you are using butter, oil, a spray, or nothing, let it sit and cook a bit before you try to move it around. Hamburger, for example, will adhere to the pan at first and if you try stirring it up right away, small pieces will be stuck and are more likely to burn. Rather, wait until it has a minute or two to cook on that side. The parts that adhere will cook, separate and lift away from the pan so you can stir it easier. And when you are done, if there is any food stuck to the pan, put some water in it and let it boil for a few minutes. This will help lift it off and make cleaning easier.
Again, a great pan, a great brand, and definitely worth the money since it will last you a lifetime with the warranty they give you.

(More customer reviews)My mother has owned this pan ever since I can remember, and she used it three or four times each week for at least 10 years, from the time I was aware of such things until the time I moved out. She still uses it 15 years later. I truly believe she has never replaced it in all that time. I have since purchased a set for myself including the frying pan, and it is a very durable product. Best and most even heating of any pans I've owned. It's got a very comfortable weight balance and I don't have to worry about the handle getting hot. I like the classic version without the teflon because you never have to worry about scraping the coating off.
I love Farberware Classic and I want to complete my set and never have to worry about buying new pans again.

This pan does a fantastic job caramelizing meat and veggies. It heats very quickly and evenly. But it also cools very rapidly because the copper is a fantastic conductor of heat and cold. I like the copper core better because of the ease of maintenance. Just a little Barkeeper's Friend and it shines like new. The handle stays cool enough in most applications for me to use it bare handed. The sides are sloped just right to impress your friends with a little food flipping action. I've used it on both electric and gas stoves and was happy with the even heating of both. If you can swing the price you won't regret it.

The largest one for fried rice and etc. I haven't used the middle one, yet, but the quality of these pans are very good, which is not surprising for t-fal. The design is a lot better than in the picture they show here. I think $27 for three pans is a wonderful deal!
Oh, by the way, you need to boil some water in them before you use them for the first time. They kinda smell bad in the beginning.

I don't think the quality is as good as my old one. I am not going to use the new lid because it slips around too much. The old lid fits on the new pan tight and makes a good seal so I use it. I am on the fence as to weather or not I will purchase another one in the future.

with this skillet being and odd size I'm probably just going to have an odd lid after I pitch the skillet. Would appreciate suggestion for a low priced similar skillet.

(More customer reviews)I bought this item and used it for only one month before it broke. The problem is that the basin holds more weight than the handle can manage. So with a pound and half of cooked stuff in the fryer, if you lift from the handle, it will break at the joint. Even though All-Clad is much more expensive, you're better off going with their chicken fryer because they bolt the handle to the basin (whereas Innova just staples the handle on). In fact, most other brands bolt the handle on to their chicken fryers. I don't know why Innova hasn't caught on.
I still gave 2 stars because the company accepted the return, although I did have to pay shipping.

Also I was afraid that because it is so large and I have a rather small stove (because I live in an apt) that it would not cook evenly. But I was way wrong! Not only can you use it as you would any other skillet -- I have used it to make baked potatoes; "baked" frozen entrees, and have found recipes for cakes, coffee cakes and even pizza. Can't wait to try all these new ideas. The kitchen doesn't get heated up in the summer, thus keeping the air conditioning from working hard. Some things take a little experimenting, but it all seems to work out in the end. Frozen products need to be watched the first time to make sure they are totally cooked. My only suggestion to West Bend would be to offer a grid to fit in the skillet. Great product -- great price!!
