She has KitchenAid cookware & needed a large red fry pan. They are not easy to find. I would rather have been able to get one with a handle that was not metal, but Kitchenaid is a good product.

(More customer reviews)These pots are nice but they are not comparable in quality to Le Creuset. I ordered quite a few of these in different sizes from Amazon when they were on a Friday special. Some of the pots are better than others. On some the enamel doesn't seem to be as thick, there are places where you can see the cast iron just under the surface. I am assuming that this may wear through sooner. Others appear to have a much better enamel coating. The lids on the Heuck pieces don't fit on the pots quite as nicely as the lids do on Le Creuset pots. They are also heavier than Le Creuset is for the same sized pot. You will likely need a ladle in order to remove the contents if you use this sauce pan. I waitressed for years carrying heavy trays and I can just barely manage to hold this 2.5 quart pot up and scrape the contents out with a spatula. Overall they are definitely worth the price, but if you can find second hand Le Creuset that has the interior enamel relatively intact it would probably be a better deal, as it appears that they will last longer than these Heuck pots will.
10/27/2010. As I was afraid of, the enamel in some places has worn away on the interior of some of my Heuck pots and now there are rust stains around the exposed cast iron. My 20+ year old LeCreuset still looks beautiful!

(More customer reviews)My mother has owned this pan ever since I can remember, and she used it three or four times each week for at least 10 years, from the time I was aware of such things until the time I moved out. She still uses it 15 years later. I truly believe she has never replaced it in all that time. I have since purchased a set for myself including the frying pan, and it is a very durable product. Best and most even heating of any pans I've owned. It's got a very comfortable weight balance and I don't have to worry about the handle getting hot. I like the classic version without the teflon because you never have to worry about scraping the coating off.
I love Farberware Classic and I want to complete my set and never have to worry about buying new pans again.

(More customer reviews)This is a great piece of equipment for many cooking tasks; don't let the "stir-fry" moniker limit your uses of it. In fact, because of its large flat bottom, it doesn't quite work as well for stir-frying as a traditionally shaped wok, and the nonstick coating, while durable, means you have to be a little bit too careful when moving food around -- a true stir-fry should be stirred with abandon. But this large pan is good for all kinds of sauteeing, and because of the high sides its capacity is tremendous. Combined with the tight-fitting glass lid, one of the best uses of this pan is to make risotto for a huge crowd; it's also really nice for tossing almost-cooked pasta into a hot sauce.
A few minor notes: be aware that the pan is really very large, and quite heavy, and because of this it takes a long while to heat up. It can be hard to lift when full of food. You probably wouldn't want to use this for a side dish, to whip up a little sauce on the side, or to cook for one or two people. It can block nearby burners on a small stove. The silicon-covered handles are oven-safe to a degree, but they're not magic; coming out of a hot oven they will be painfully hot to the touch.

The design of this pan allows large quantities to be cooked and moved safely. It also braised perfectly because of the heavy bottom. The reasonable price was a bonus! The see-through lid with a metal rim to protect the glass from chipping makes it easy to see the food cooking and allows those "curious kitchen visitors" (aka kids, significant other, etc.) to see in the pan without removing the lid.

(More customer reviews)With proper care this pan will last more than a lifetime. Most of the Cast Iron pans made in the late 1800's are still floating around. This pan can last that long too. While this pan is hugh and can cook lots and lots of food. It is better suited for outdoor cooking on a Campfire or a Turkey fryer base than useing in a kitchen. It is pretty big for a stove as you can have two burners heating it at once. I am glad I bought this pan. I also bought a smaller skillet for use on my home stove.
But for campfire cooking this is one of the most versitle pieces out there, you can fry in it, use it a a griddle and make monster pancakes. You can even whip up a big batch of Chili. If you like camping or even backyard cooking this is a must have. I like to use mine with a Turkey deepfryer base as the heating element it works great.

(More customer reviews)I would have never bought this pan if I had seen the reviews here, but I bought it on an impulse at a cookware outlet and I'm so glad I did! My pan doesn't have any of the problems (hot handle, peeling nonstick) that the other reviewers here have experienced. I suspect that since those earlier reviews the pan has been redesigned by the manufacturer.
Whatever the reason, I absolutely love it! It's the only pan I've ever found that is the perfect size (4") for english muffins and orowheat sandwich thins. Honestly, I'm a rather practical person, so I generally don't buy things with little characters on them, but this pan has ended up being the most-used pan in my kitchen. It's perfect for making scrambled egg sandwiches, so I use it several times a week.
If the handle starts heating up or the nonstick peels off, I'll update this review, but in over six months of weekly use, it's performed like a little champ! And, over time, the cartoon egg on the handle has grown on me, it seems kind of shocked or amazed... perhaps because it has to watch me cook an egg!
BTW-The secret to light, fluffy scrambled eggs is to use a low heat and stir constantly. It takes a little longer, but it is so worth it.

(More customer reviews)I absolutely love this frying pan. 1) I can cook enough pot stickers (lid is essential) to feed my family of 4 in just two batches. 2) Making fried rice is so easy, because of the non-stick feature, again the large size is really convenient. 3) Even the always sticky Chinese Chow Fun is no problem for this non-stick pan. 4) Yes chinese dishes are no problem for this pan, and it is equally fantastic in saute'ing western style dishes. I make pancakes, scramble eggs, pork chops, steaks, saute fish, paella, chili and many other dishes using this pan.
So far, under almost daily usage, the non-stick surface is still looking very good, without any flaking and scratches. I use only wood and plastic spatulas. The large size and higher walls make it easy to toss and stir the food without spilleage, which makes cleanup much easier. BTW, my cook top is gas, and the pan distributes the heat very evenly over the entire surface.
I hope they keep making this pan, because I'm buying another when this one finally wears out. My pan is entirely made of metal, without any plastic on the handles, so I'm able to put it into the oven for baking as well.
Jan 17 2011 Update,
A year and a half later and the Pan is still in great condition. Non-stick material is still working fine. I'm giving it to my daughter, because she wanted it for making gyoza's. Time for me to buy a new one.

(More customer reviews)Despite the bad reviews, I also tried this pan. It is awful - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
To address issues other have had -
(1) It was perfectly flat out of the box, but warped as soon as medium heat was applied. Probably because it is so thin. Note the 10" crepe pan weighs as much as this monster of a pan, and appears to be at least 3 times thicker.
(2) It is way too thin to heat evenly - I think our heavy duty cookie sheets are just as thick! To check it out, I used an infrared thermometer and found out that once the hottest part of the pan reached about 350 (ideal for things like eggs and pancakes), there were parts that were 75 degrees cooler. This means burnt eggs and raw pancakes. Yum.
The size would probably make a good chicken fryer for a large family, but it has no top, so I'm not sure what you really could do with it, so mine went back today.

(More customer reviews)I have this exact stir fry pan (same line, same model) that I've used for over a decade. I bought it at a Williams-Sonoma scratch and dent sale ages ago as it had a tiny nick in the handle. It has, however, served me exceptionally well, has a nice, rounded surface, and has been excellent for stir-frying.
A former roommate, however, put it in the dishwasher once, and it looks terrible on the outside, so I was tempted by the price here to purchase another one.
The new one is nothing like the one I had before. The one I had was made in Colorado, has a nice, rounded cooking surface inside, and is heavy and strong construction. The new one is thinner, has a flat-bottom cooking surface, and is made in China. It feels flimsier from the handle to the bowl. It cooks 'okay.' Had I started with this one, I likely wouldn't have bought another, as it's just not the sort of product that is liable to hold up with the kind of wear through which I put my pots and pans.
That said, it's not a terrible pan. It's a sight better than the cheapo pans one often starts out with. It's just not as good as I was expecting from my previous experience.

Last time I picked it up, while it was hot, the lid completely fell apart into pieces. Don't waste your money. Buy one without a lid first, they are cheaper, and this skillet might as well not have one.

Also I was afraid that because it is so large and I have a rather small stove (because I live in an apt) that it would not cook evenly. But I was way wrong! Even on the undersized burners this pan cooks everything evenly. And clean up could not be any easier. I would recommend this pan to anyone looking for a quality piece at a wonderful price.
