(More customer reviews)This is our second Oster 12 inch Glass Lid Electric Skillet 3001. The first one still works beautifully and we love it so much that we are ordering another. We use it for practically everything you can imagine cooking in a skillet. We poach salmon, fry bacon, make potroast etc. etc. etc. We love the tip feature it is great for basting eggs, the glass lid so you can keep an eye on things, the even cooking throughout the pan, the max temperature gives you searing capability, you can wipe the pan clean between cooking individual items (for example, cook your bacon, remove, cook your potatotes, remove and wipe the pan with a paper towel then cook your eggs), you can also cook burritoes to a golden brown by (thawing them and cooking them 15 mins on each side on high simmer) and both the simmer and warm are exactly what you get, all of this in one pan and for our family we will have 2 of these fabulous skillets. (More customer reviews)Very nice pan good quality,much better than the Walmart brand of Paula Deen.The Paula Deen at Walmart is cheaper made the handles are weaker because they are flat.this one and the set I bought at JC Penny have two ribs on the handle to make it stronger also these have rings to hang them if you want to,Walmart brand does not.This pan cooks evenly and fast my wife really loves this cookware she has the whole set now and is very happy with the way they cook and the way she can hang them up out of the way.They also look very nice hanging in the kitchen.I think anyone would be happy with this cookware,but I would not buy the Walmart brand of Paula Deen pay the extra few dollars and get the ones with the better and stronger handles.Thanks Amazon for good service and product.

(More customer reviews)I was a little nervous when I bought this skillet, since at the time there were no product reviews on it, but I was desperate, and since I had had good luck with other Cuisinart products, I took the chance. Am I glad I did! We were just beginning a major kitchen remodel, which meant that for at least two months I would have to improvise cooking facilities for 5 adults and a grandchild. This skillet has been a real workhorse for me, and a genuine lifesaver (and budget-saver) during the remodel. Its cost was no more than 2 dinners for my family at a moderate-cost restaurant, and I saved that much the first week by cooking those dinners at home in this skillet instead. Its large capacity makes it extremely versatile. I've used it to fry chicken, make one-pan dinners, cook bacon and eggs, frozen blintzes, pot roast, stir-fry meals, you name it. It makes a beautiful risotto, and I've even used it to cook corn on the cob and boil potatoes. Everything came out exactly as I'd hoped, or better. I am especially happy with the Cuisinart's solid, sturdy base that won't let the skillet tip over and endanger the cook (or the curious grandchild). I also love the sturdy nonstick surface, which after two months of frequent use is still like new, in contrast to some nonstick pans I've had where the coating scratches or wore off so quickly that by the 3rd or 4th use the food had to be chipped out. The temperature control responds very quickly, too. You can certainly buy a cheaper electric skillet, but if you use it frequently, a cheap pan will be trash in a short time and you may not be happy with the way it performs in that short lifetime. This Cuisinart is worth every penny, and I expect to be using mine for a long, long time.

(More customer reviews)This is a great piece of equipment for many cooking tasks; don't let the "stir-fry" moniker limit your uses of it. In fact, because of its large flat bottom, it doesn't quite work as well for stir-frying as a traditionally shaped wok, and the nonstick coating, while durable, means you have to be a little bit too careful when moving food around -- a true stir-fry should be stirred with abandon. But this large pan is good for all kinds of sauteeing, and because of the high sides its capacity is tremendous. Combined with the tight-fitting glass lid, one of the best uses of this pan is to make risotto for a huge crowd; it's also really nice for tossing almost-cooked pasta into a hot sauce.
A few minor notes: be aware that the pan is really very large, and quite heavy, and because of this it takes a long while to heat up. It can be hard to lift when full of food. You probably wouldn't want to use this for a side dish, to whip up a little sauce on the side, or to cook for one or two people. It can block nearby burners on a small stove. The silicon-covered handles are oven-safe to a degree, but they're not magic; coming out of a hot oven they will be painfully hot to the touch.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this electric skillet when my old trusty electric skillet died. What a mistake! The product is raised in the center, and as a result, any liquid, such as pancake batter or eggs, run to the sides. My biggest complaint is that EVERYTHING sticks to the pan. No amount of oil or butter can stop virtually all foods from sticking. I was initially attracted to this product because it has a removable pan. However, it does not heat evenly. I suspect this is because the pan just sits on top of electric coils, and the heat is not distributed evenly. I do not recommend this product!

(More customer reviews)I absolutely love this frying pan. 1) I can cook enough pot stickers (lid is essential) to feed my family of 4 in just two batches. 2) Making fried rice is so easy, because of the non-stick feature, again the large size is really convenient. 3) Even the always sticky Chinese Chow Fun is no problem for this non-stick pan. 4) Yes chinese dishes are no problem for this pan, and it is equally fantastic in saute'ing western style dishes. I make pancakes, scramble eggs, pork chops, steaks, saute fish, paella, chili and many other dishes using this pan.
So far, under almost daily usage, the non-stick surface is still looking very good, without any flaking and scratches. I use only wood and plastic spatulas. The large size and higher walls make it easy to toss and stir the food without spilleage, which makes cleanup much easier. BTW, my cook top is gas, and the pan distributes the heat very evenly over the entire surface.
I hope they keep making this pan, because I'm buying another when this one finally wears out. My pan is entirely made of metal, without any plastic on the handles, so I'm able to put it into the oven for baking as well.
Jan 17 2011 Update,
A year and a half later and the Pan is still in great condition. Non-stick material is still working fine. I'm giving it to my daughter, because she wanted it for making gyoza's. Time for me to buy a new one.

I followed instructions and only used medium heat but the non-stick doesn't work too well and the skillet is stained, like it absorbed the butter, it won't go, no matter how hard I clean it. It looks like it's cheaply made and will not last long.

Last time I picked it up, while it was hot, the lid completely fell apart into pieces. Don't waste your money. Buy one without a lid first, they are cheaper, and this skillet might as well not have one.

(More customer reviews)The 16" size of this Presto skillet actually ended up saving room in my kitchen because it replaced both an electric griddle and an old 12" electric skillet. This pan can be used for all kinds of cooking: griddling, frying, grilling, braising, roasting, even baking. The sides are high enough to use it as a chicken fryer or for stirfry. I can check how bacon is frying through the glass lid, minimizing spatter, if any. The temperature control is accurate and the pan heats up quickly, unlike my electric stovetop. In fact, you can get a perfect simmer by turning the knob down just till the light goes out. Also nothing sticks to it. The only two things you have to remember are: 1)spray it with Pam or some other cooking spray the first time you use it (just the first time), and 2)to maintain the nonstick coating, never soak it in water for extended periods (you won't need to soak it, it cleans up fast and easy). I really like this skillet and recommend it highly. I bought it in February and have used it regularly ever since.
NOTE: It is now May 2008 and I still use this electric skillet at least once or twice a week. It has held up beautifully and still looks new. I have to tighten the leg screws now and then but I'm not complaining. I would give this pan six stars if I could.
NOTE: It is now October 2008 and we still use this skillet a couple of times per week at least. It takes about 3 minutes to clean after it cools. I can cook just about anything in it. I like its temperature accuracy and the quick control I have over the heat. I use it all the time.
NOTE: It's now February 2009, and two years since I bought this skillet. I still use it at least once a week and it is holding up just fine. Other than tightening the leg/handle screws now and then, it works as well as the day I received it.
NOTE: It's now January 2010 and the skillet is still going strong. No problems with it at all. We use it every weekend for egg & pancake breakfasts with all the trimmings.
