Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 17-Inch Cast Iron Skillet Review

(More customer reviews)With proper care this pan will last more than a lifetime. Most of the Cast Iron pans made in the late 1800's are still floating around. This pan can last that long too. While this pan is hugh and can cook lots and lots of food. It is better suited for outdoor cooking on a Campfire or a Turkey fryer base than useing in a kitchen. It is pretty big for a stove as you can have two burners heating it at once. I am glad I bought this pan. I also bought a smaller skillet for use on my home stove.
But for campfire cooking this is one of the most versitle pieces out there, you can fry in it, use it a a griddle and make monster pancakes. You can even whip up a big batch of Chili. If you like camping or even backyard cooking this is a must have. I like to use mine with a Turkey deepfryer base as the heating element it works great.

The plates always heat up evenly and quickly, and the temperature control gives me a ridiculous amount of control over my food's preparation. The excess grease, when using the grill side of things, runs off into a collection troth that neatly hides and stores inside the grill between the two plates. When releasing the spring-loaded plates from the grill, the rest grease gets collected in the troth as well. It's great to pull out on a lazy Saturday morning or for a quick meal before going out. I'm thoroughly impressed.

It's got a very powerful clip on that doesn't budge in wind or when I move the kettle grill. It's got a very bright, clear, targeted light that can completely illuminate my 22 1/2 inch weber grill cooking surface. I would highly recommend this light (and save about $20 from the aforementioned foodie store).

(More customer reviews)I went to various retail outlets to inspect Webers, Brinkman and the Masterbuilt. I ended up buying the Masterbuilt M7P. I also was not interested in refrigerator size smoker either. An 18.5 inch grill diameter suites me fine.
Here's why:
1. Brinkman - Single not multi-tiered. Harder to work in lower chamber unless you're very tall. Priced over (...)
2. Weber - Way over priced, period. Only had charcoal option not duel; charcoal and/or propane. Height to low.
3. Shop the inet. You can find an M7P for under (...).
I can control the heat better with propane rather than charcoal as I like a cooler smoke under 125 degrees. I bought the M7P strictly for smoking as I have a gas BBQ grill. The M7P water pan could be used as a drip bowl if you do.
Kit included an aluminum pot and mesh basket, I suppose for crab/lobster boils.
Masterbuilt M7P
Pros:
* Xlnt packaging as every square inch was utilized. Amazed how small a box the M7P arrived in. No waste. Go green.
* Nice finish. Over time we'll see if the shine holds. Wish it came in a primer (dull) black instead.
* Every piece was wrapped well.
* All nuts, bolts, and screws plainly labeled.
* Easy to follow assembly instructions.
* Smokes extremely well. I use the water pan as a heat blocker to cool the smoke down.
* King salmon, beef brisket and pork butt come out lip smackin' to die for dee-lishous.
* Breaks down easily so multi-usage becomes a reality. Just lift the sections up and away. That's it.
* Handles remain cool after 5 hours of smoking. BIG thumbs up!
* NO smoke leakage, it all inside the unit.
Cons:
* Looking for a another burner. The flame range is medium to high. When set low it tends to choke. By this I mean you hear a whooshing/roaring sound as the flame turns from blue/green to yellow/orange. By low I mean the flame is licking the chamber bottom 8" away, yet I cannot maintain a blue/green flame.
* Have to make adjustments to the top lid air/smoke vent so it closes completely.
**Note: When installing the burn unit note the positions of the legs. One leg is at the back while two are in front. Mount the unit so the propane hose faces the correct direction - right or left - as it's not long enough to reach around if mounted incorrectly. If U goof, it's a simple four screw removal to remount the unit...a 2 minute job.

The burner is well made, quite heavy metal, and worked fabulously. The starter kicked in the flame each time, although I did have a long lighter handy in case. I used this burner to prepare paella on my new 15" paella pan. I loved it. Heavy duty, worked well for me, was easy to light and control the flame... I am glad I took a chance on this one!

The strainer handle broke off when I attempted to lift the first batch of craw fish from the boiling water. Also, the rivets on the lid handle do not appear to be finished (they were just punched straight through) and look to be the next piece that breaks.
Amazon also does not give you the option to contact this seller. Very disappointing.

The set is made from 18/10 stainless steel with sandwiched aluminum bottoms for fast, even heating. The heavy-gauge knobs and handles are permanently welded for durability. The set came exactly as described. A lot of other sets come with an 8 quart dutch oven. That's too large for me. The 5.5 quart dutch oven is the perfect size for cooking and storing in the cabinet. The food does not stick to the inside of this cookware and the pots and pans clean easily. This set has the perfect size pans (1 qt, 2 qt and 3 qt) and stacks beautifully in my kitchen cabinet. I also love the see through lids so you can monitor the heat level while cooking. The handles and knobs do not overheat when cooking. The other brands come with non-stick frying pans. I was looking for a cookware set without non-stick pots or frying pans. I researched all the other brands - farberware, calphalon, cuisinart, etc and this is the best cookware set by far. This would be especially good for some-one just starting out as it has everything you need. I'm very happy with this set!

King Kooker 30-Quart Stainless Steel Turkey Pot Package Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this pot for homebrewing. It is certainly adequate for that purpose, but there are some things I wish I had known ahead of time. First, the bottom of this pot is "raised" (not flat), making it unsuitable for use on an electric stove. Second, the pot is much taller than it is wide, which helps with boil-overs, but makes it a bit awkward to handle, especially for things like lifting into an ice-filled sink, or pouring the wort into the fermenter.
It gets the job done, but now that I've used it a few times, I don't think I'd recommend it as a brewpot.
(Also, the lid is not as-pictured. It's cheaper than the one shown here.)

The reason is, once you've got one side all good and seasoned, when you flip it to use the other side, that seasoning you worked hard to get will warp and you have to start over; Also, whatever you cook on the other side will taste like stove burner because that's where it's been all this time!

(More customer reviews)I picked this cooker up from Costco for under thirty bucks. If you don't want to spend a lot on a computerized rice cooker, this is the one for you. It's the cheapest fuzzy logic rice cooker on the market, but still makes great rice. It doesn't have a bunch of extra functions you'd never use, just white rice, brown rice, quick rice, and steam cook.
You have to play around a little with the amount of water when cooking the rice. If it's too dry, just add a little bit more water and leave it in keep warm mode for about 15 minutes. If you're planning on using keep warm mode, you also have to add a bit more water to keep the rice from burning to the bottom.
I've used mine for everything from steaming veggies to making steel cut oats. One thing I particularly like is that when you set the timer for steaming, it doesn't start counting down until the water is actually boiling.
The only thing I'd like better was if there were extra internal bowls available. I had originally bought this one thinking to use it until I got a more expensive rice cooker, but that purchase has been put on hold indefinitely simply because this one works so well.
To make steel cut oats, I use the brown rice function due to the long soaking time. Just add 4 cups water to every 1 cup of oats. Also add pat of butter or a bit of oil to the water to keep it from boiling over, and a pinch of salt. You can add raisins or other dried fruit if you like. I usually make a double batch, and it comes out perfect every time. Perfectly cooked with that unique chewy steel cut oat texture. No more soaking and making it on the stove for me.

(More customer reviews)I've used this pot a couple of times since I've bought it for both cheese and chocolate fondues. Overall I'm very pleased. The food is cooked quickly and the clean up time is very fast and easy. The magnet holding the heating cord is genius. When it gets too hot simply remove the cord.
I can think of only two negatives. The cord is very short making it difficult to use. I find the best way to use it for company is to heat the fondue and then carry the pot. Also I'm not sure the heating control is calibrated correctly. The warm setting produces violent bubbles in the fondue. I'm afraid to see what 500 degrees will do.
