Each package has three charcoal and three white filters for the dual filtration system. The two replaceable filters prevent the release of oil vapors and odors into your kitchen. The black charcoal filter takes out the odors and the white filter prevents the release of oil vapors. When the white oil vapor filter indicator square changes or the filter turns brown it is time for replacement after approximately twelve uses.

(More customer reviews)If you own a deep fryer and do not know about these yet, chances are you really need these. Depending on how often you use your deep fryer, you could need replacements in less than a month.
So, what do they do? Simple, they keep oily fumes from invading your house when your frying-up a batch of french-fries. The oily smell in the air is not normal, and the fumes can leave an oily residue on anything and everything. So, you gotta have them.
As far as I can tell, Rival is the only company that still makes the filters for home units at a reasonable price.
