(More customer reviews)I am very happy with this vertical roaster. I've used it dozens of times, and throw it in the dishwasher when I'm done - not even one rust spot.
The accompanying recipe also gets an A+ - I've had several requests for the recipe. It's almost impossible to ruin a bird cooked this way. Even if you overcook, it will still be moist because of the inner steam.
However, it doesn't come with a cup, so you have to either find a glass that fits or use a can. I don't like the idea of superheated aluminum and paint, so luckily I have a glass that fits perfectly.
I use mine in the oven, not the BBQ, though I'm sure it would work well there also. It fits in a pie pan, and I use a glass one. If you don't have a pie pan, you may want to consider buying a roaster which comes with its own pan.
I still give it 5 stars because for what you get, it works beautifully!

Sittin' Chicken and Turkey Combo Review

(More customer reviews)I originally purchased just the "Sittin' Chicken" steamer, but after using it the first time I immediately ordered the chicken and turkey combo so I would never be without this option for roasting poultry. If you're going to feed more than two or three hungry people, you will need to roast more than one chicken anyway, so this gives me two chicken and one turkey steamer. The popular method has always been to use a can of beer for this type of cooking, but I like using fruit juices. Apple juice is my favorite. The meat comes out with a moist and sweet flavor, unattainable by other methods. For Easter this year I did a turkey on the grill (we have a wood pellet grill) with pineapple juice and beer in the Sittin' Turkey, and quickly discovered that I will need to make more turkey next year for this crowd. They loved it.
In addition, the ceramic steamers are easy to clean. I rub a little vegetable oil on the outside before cooking to keep crusty bits from sticking, and simply throw them in the dishwasher when I'm done. I don't think I will ever go back to the old way of roasting poultry.
